- deciduous twining vine with fragrant showy multicolor flowers - narrowly tubular 2" flower clusters bloom from late spring sporadically into fall - flowers are deep purple-rose in bud and on the outside, opening to white aging to yellow on the inside - this cultivar combines great flower and stem color with long bloom season and strong honey scent, making it a favorite - profusely produces inedible red berries in late summer to early fall - berries are attractive to birds - narrow bluish-green leaves have blue-green undersides; stems are crimson purple - needs a support structure to grow on unless desired to grow as a groundcover - produces blooms on old wood, so restrict pruning to just after flowering - this vigorous cultivar grows to 10-20 ft by 3-5ft - attractive to hummingbirds & butterflies - for full sun to part shade, best flowering in full sun - grows in zones 4-9
